Yooter InterActive StudyBill Gates wearing down Google. - May 11th 2005
Google is losing it's share of searches to MSN and Yahoo. Our study was based on the following criteria All 100 sites surveyed must have had similar rankings for the same keyword across all three search engines, if a site was on page 1 position 3, it must of be on the same page and within 2 spots on all three engines to qualify for the study. The site must have a minimum of 1000 visitors per day from the search engines (not to be counted were direct links from other sites, type in traffic or other non-search engine traffic). Over the course of the study we have found that MSN was the big winner with Yahoo! a close second, gaining searches from Google. At the close of the study, we have seen an increase of nearly 8% just in MSN's traffic and 4% in Yahoo's. These were at the expense of Google. There is one flaw in this study that is worth mentioning, over 60% of the sites that were surveyed were informational sites that were geared to non-techncial terms. We feel that this might of hurt Google's market share in regards to the study. The graph at the left shows the end result as per the end of the study. Yahoo!, MSN and Google are Trademarks of Yahoo!, Microsoft and Google in that order.
