Yooter InterActive Marketing -- Flash SEO /Search Engine Optimization and Macromedia Flex Search Engine Optimization

It's not the use of Flash that is the problem, it's the lack of text. Generally when an Ad Agency or InterActive Marketing Firm designs a 100% flash site is when we get the call to fix the problem. We know the reasons the site was built in that fashion, for look and feel most of the time. But the search engines cannot read the content on the site. This translates to horrifc search engine rankings.

The issues that normally plague 100% flash sites could be seen using the CACHE:www.example.com in Google. The Cache command instructs Google to view the site from what their servers are seeing. Generally all flash sites look ok, until you click on that link at the top that says 'view text only' That is when it hits most people like a ton of bricks, the ad agency is now trying to rank a blank page.

The problem with this blank page syndrome is that when you are limited to only offsite SEO (text links from other sites to yours) you start to see the entire problem that most ad agencies are facing today. They design a $100,000 site for their client in flash, and their client is hitting the roof because it's not ranked anywhere in the search engines. What's the sense of building a site, no matter how wonderful, if no one visits it.

Thankfully there are several solutions that over the course of the past few years we have either developed internally or with our partners that can allow Flash sites to rank. The great thing is that we have accomplished this using 100% Google Guideline approved methods.

Some of our methods include, but are not limited to of course external links to the site, running HTML side by side with the flash site or building flash in a fashion that the search engines could spider all the content (yes it's very possible).

We enjoy flash challenges due to the fact that ranking a 100% flash site for various keywords is akin to removing the code bloat from Microsoft Word, Save as HTML feature. Yes it's possible, but it's very very hard work.
