Internet Advertising vs Internet Marketing

June 23rd, 2008

Generally speaking many individuals use the words ‘internet marketing’ and ‘internet advertising’ interchangeability. However there are some differences. Internet Advertising is literally just putting out ads there… it could be Adwords or some other type of display, text or video advertising.. generally with the hopes that something goes viral. Internet Marketing however is a far more complicated issue. It’s not just ads.. it’s literally a marketing campaign. Last year for example J.J Abrams ran one of the most powerful internet marketing campaigns in recent history for the movie Cloverfield.

The movie itself was average to say the least, but the hype surrounding it was stellar. It was a robust campaign that included bread crumbs all over the internet… multiple sites.. multiple story lines… it was in itself more interesting than the actual movie.

It generated such hype that average movie generated $170,532,558 in theater sales alone… this figure is not counting DVD sales, on Demand Sales, etc etc… The internet marketing campaign was rumored to cost them 150 grand total. 150 grand wouldn’t buy them much for advertising.. and when the ad is over.. if not memorable it would be literally over.

Any questions, just ask.

Half Day Friday

June 19th, 2008

About a month ago Yooter InterActive launched a half day Friday program… and we are proud to announce that it has gone rather successfully. Every other Friday our employees are given off for 1/2 the day to do whatever they want, Golfing, Fishing, Shopping or whatever they choose. The employees are paid as if it was a full day (how’s that for cool).

We choose every other Friday afternoon off since generally speaking Friday afternoons are the slowest of the normal business week.. and also because it gives our people an extended weekend. They earned it.. as one of the top rated Social Media firms around our people deserve it.

We figured Hawaiian shirt Friday wasn’t going to cut it.. spend it with their family instead :)

Amanda Yoder : Search Engine Marketing specialist

June 9th, 2008

Yooter InterActive is enhancing their search engine marketing offerings, and Amanda Yoder is going to take the lead in successfully creating SEM as one of Yooter’s core specialties.

Historically, Yooter has focused on organic Search Engine Optimization and social media, but when our clients asked for more intense search engine marketing we were here to meet their needs. Amanda’s initial focus at Yooter was search engine optimization, where she successfully achieved great results for her clients. With her transition into the SEM side, she comes from a background that includes not just search engine marketing, but an extensive background in search engine optimization. Her experience and knowledge on these two services is from an agency that has the realization of both, something that is painfully lacking in today’s online marketing industry.

Amanda is excited to take the lead in our search engine marketing department, and is committed to fulfill all of our clients PPC needs.

gas prices + recession = bad advertising days ahead

May 22nd, 2008

Generally speaking when the prices of gas hit the roof with people saying it will reach 12-15 dollars a gallon is the exact moment when companies need to reconsider their advertising options.

Let’s face it.. there is an economic disruption out there and gas prices like this will force a general recession.

The problem stems from the fact that the average person is looking at 1 paycheck a month going to Exxon leaving him working on 3 paychecks a month total, that includes food (prices skyrocketing), mortgage payments (another disaster), credit card debt (another mess) and finally to purchase products (the very same products that are increasing in cost due to transportation costs to the store and forcing the individual to pay more to fire up his engine to drive to the store in the first place). It’s just a bad situation overall.

So looking at it this way, people over the next few months or longer will be spending MUCH more time at home, based on current trends they are going to be spending that time on their computer.. not watching TV (if you really want to get down to it.. they will be surfing the web, playing games or watching TV on their computer.. IE: Hulu.Com or Veoh.Com).

The presents a huge opportunity for advertising agencies and marketing agencies that specialize on online marketing, but it’s a disaster for traditional firms… in focus the holding company advertising agencies that have virtually neglected online and just recently have started to focus on it… but sorely lacking the infrastructure needed to complete a social media campaign for example.

In short, InterActive marketing firms are set to grow at the expense of holding companies. During a recession is exactly when firms that are innovative tend to shine. In this case, it’s going to be an interesting competition for the next 12 months.

We have the hardest job on earth - Google changed it’s algo 450 times in 2007

April 19th, 2008

Generally speaking a client sometimes gives us a call and says “hey, for the past 6 months I have been #1 for this keyword… now I am #3 .. what gives”

Part of the reason is that Google changed it’s algo again… last year Google tweeked it’s algo 450 times in 2007…. about 1.25 times per day… 9 times a week… and just under 40 times a month.

This of course causes changes in how sites are ranked… what factors count more.. what factors count less.. what NEW factors now count.. and what old ones have been dropped.

So if anyone wanted to know why Yooter’s job is so hard… this is the answer…

??????Google is typically tight-lipped about it the inner workings of its search business, but there are a few nuggets worth looking at in a Popular Mechanics interview with Udi Manber, the Google vice president who oversees search quality. Among them: Google rejiggered its search algorithm 450 times last year.

Of course we are kidding that it’s the ‘hardest job on earth’ … that award goes to Google themselves for taking the all content of the entire internet and putting it down to a simple search…
