You didn't miss much

Found Agency in Australia had a quick question regarding the Time Magazine Article on Google.  I figured I would save you guys the time and give you a quick skinny on what was said (trust me you didn’t miss much).  We subscribe to the magazine and have the print edition.

First off the article is filled with Google promotion, meaning it shows all the employees running around with crayons drawing pictures on the walls, playing with Legos, and riding scooters to and from meetings, swimming in the Google pool, have 3 huge google paid for meals per day, having their pet dogs run thoughout the offices and playing pool during their breaks.

It initally shows Google as a unstoppable machine, then dribbles on potential threats, even has 1 line on the recent Google Censorship row with China.

In short, you guys really didn’t miss much.

ps: feel free to take off the nofollow back :)

v7ndotcom elursrebmem promotion

Yooter is proud to announce #11 or #12 ranking for the keyword v7ndotcom elursrebmem we admit we under guessed the level of competition and had ourselves at #80 at one point.  However we took measures to increase our rankings and also we want to stress that we honestly view this contest as fun.

Regardless,  We are offering free v7ndotcom elursrebmem promotion for any contest entry.  Just post your link to the site.  The catch is you must include one paragraph of real content with the keyword in text unlinked.  Then you can post your link with the keyword you want.   It’s a free link, should take the average person about 20 seconds to make.

The reason we are doing this is because we are promoting the new Association of Search Engine Professionals, and we need more users.

Association of Search Engine Professionals

We have to admit we are biased on this one.  But PA based Yooter InterActive Marketing and CT based Keyword Performance have joined forces for the new Association of Search Engine Professionals.  This site was a Yooter owned only parody site called the Association of Search Engine Spammers and it made fun of the mostly black hat side of our industry.   However we felt that we might do the world better with an Association of Search Engine Professionals.   However for all you black hatters out there,  there is still the spammers ‘show your black hat’ room.

Honestly we view this as a viable alternative to other associations out there,  mostly because of the forum format for this and also because of the fun nature rather than a strictly professional approach.

We hope you take the time to visit http://www.aosep.com

'Click Here' and other horrific linking strategies

We wanted to outline some of the most funny top 10 searches in Google.  These are searches that many Search Engine Optimizers cringe when they see.  It means that the sites that are listed have tons upon tons of backlinks to their site with the word ‘click here’ rather than the name the site wishes to rank for.   Or worse,  as in the case of ‘home’ it means that the site was never properly designed with SEO in mind.

Click Here –  List of victims of the worse allocation of external pagerank ever thought of.

Home – List of largest UN-SEOed site on the planet, all focusing on the term ‘home’ as their main page link.

Stephen Baker on why RSS is not catching on

We have to admit here at Yooter that we are becoming more and more of a fan of  Stephen Baker’s blog.  We do suggest you take the time to read his work.

Regarding this individual post, regarding why RSS is not really catching on to the mainstream.  He has a point. If it’s something I have to outsource to my 13-year-old, a technology isn’t dunce-proof ready for primetime.

He is 100% correct.

However,  back in 1995 .. many people had to outsource surfing the web to their 13 year old.  The point is we are RSS addicts here.

We use them for several reasons, one is because many of us are news buffs.. keeping on top of whatever is happening across the planet.. or our back yard… subscribing to RSS feeds makes it far easier.

The other reason is content management.  Sometimes we like to link on a live basis on a search engine spiderable content.  Using any number of php (or other languages) we could deliver a true live link to the content of our choice rather than rely on a static hyperlink.

Call it anything you want… but in reality,  I like to reward good content with good links.. especially ones that update in real time.

In our industry, the Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization industry RSS is golden,  it allows current content to be syndicated in real time and allows others to see what is happening as its happening.

Static links have their place … a direct link to businessweek is a direct link to businessweek.. but a rss page that shows the latest posts from Stephen for example is far more effective in both search engine value and overall freshness of content.

Turn.Com

According to Stephen Baker’s Blog, Turn.Com has $10 million in venture funding, and some 16 PhDs in-house.

One does ask however, isn’t that alot of money thrown at the pie in the sky idea of taking out Google, Yahoo and MSN?

10 million is alot for an inital investment but nothing compared to what Google, Yahoo and MSN are spending on their development.  We would be shocked to see a new upstart such as turn.com gain market share against the big three.  However as the product has not yet been launched, we have not had the chance to see what they are building in action.

At the same time, in the late 1990’s, Google was unheard of.
